At least for a day, NC STATE is #1 in the ACC standings for men's college basketball!!! Woo hoo! However, in all honesty, we are sharing the #1 spot with Duke and FSU.

That does not matter to me at all! I can at least for 1 day say we are #1 in our conference. I haven't been able to say that for a LONG time!!!!

For awhile now, Wezul has wanted a much taller tree. I wanted a much fuller tree. Wezul wanted a tree that was at least 12' and he wanted to place it by our stairs. I wanted a much small, thicker tree, and leave it where we always have it. Unfortunately, we could not find a tree that met both requirements. After looking for over a year, we found this little tree. It stand in at 9'. It is much thicker than any previous tree we have owned.

Despite coming in 3 ft shorter than Wezul wanted, he had to used the 6 ft ladder to place the star on the top of the tree. We are both very happy with the final product. This year, we were able to forgo using any "filler" ornaments. This year, the tree is covered by ornaments that Wezul has purchased each year we have been together, and ornaments that were given to us both loved ones...whether they be family or friends. Decorated the way a Christmas tree should be decorated...with meaning.

7 Year Hitch

In February 2012, we will have been in our house for 7 years. Our house will be 7 years old. Apparently there is a 7 year hitch with houses just as there are with marriages. The mechanics of our garage door are loud; however, on Veteran's Day, it decided it was not loud enough. Thank goodness for holiday sales....

Jason was a little excited I think. He stayed up until 11 pm working on it. Saturday morning we finished installing the working parts of it.

My husband, Wezul, has been bitten by the hunting bug again this year. He had a brilliant idea, sell his old tree stand, buy a new, more expensive one, but, much lighter...

He decided to give the new stand a whirl at his hunting buddy's house...

As he inches his way up......

I assumed he was crazy because he asked me to marry him....

But now I know it is true....

Why in the world will you want to sit in a contraption like this in a tree...high off the ground...hello...humans belong on the ground not suspended in the air...(however, I may have a fear or two of heights)...but I have to say...it was fun to watch him get up there. It didn't take him long...

Yes, 2 more days and counting. As it has been correctly deduced, we are going to another Dirty Heads concert. Woo hoo!!! It will be my fourth concert since April 2010, and it will be Wezul's second show.

To quote Barney Stinson, "Legen - Wait for It - Dary!!!!" will be the only way to describe Tuesday night. Compared to the prices of most tickets these days for the majority of the artists, these tickets are a steal, and we get T-shirts, signed posters, and did I mention, we get to meet the band.

Wezul is awesome. This is going to be a pretty cool way to spend my birthday...all though 10 days late. :)

Our first NCSU football game of the season is today! Unfortunately, we will not be tailgating this go around, we both have a baby shower to attend in separate locations. Tailgating will commence in a couple of weeks. Come back and see Chuckie in action. :)

October is setting up to be a very festive month for us...there will be a LOT to blog about. :) Wezul has outdone himself. Sit down everyone...he already finished my birthday shopping...I mean really...It is like Sept. 17th...this is the same guy who is normally figuring it out AFTER my birthday. I think the latest he came up with something was in December or January one year. Haha!!!

The knowledge of this...is a HUGE big freaking deal to me. He can still surprise me. Guess I am going to have to keep him another year.

I also know one of my gifts already...he had to tell me...because I had to take time off from work. This is going to be a LEGENDARY night...clues to the complete awesomeness will come later closer to the event date. :)

Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Fest - EPIC FAIL!

The Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Fest did not live up to the hype. Where do I begin?!?

$25 for a designated driver ticket. Not allowed to taste anything (including the food). I still bought me one. Good way to promote responsible drinking...NOT!
$45 for VIP tickets. If you look on the website now, they reduced them to $35 for advanced tickets that sold out. Seriously, lower the price and penalize the people who bought tickets early?
They touted a bacon tasting session for VIP members - once we get there - NO ONE knows anything about the bacon tasting. We were unable to find bacon anywhere. We look on the website afterwards, and there is no mention of the bacon tasting. It had been removed since we ordered the tickets.
"Free" BBQ tasting - 1 pig for hundreds of people while we were there. Wezul only got two slivers of the stuff the pit master wouldn't portion out.
You were able to buy BBQ. Wezul bought a very TASTY Brisket Sandwich from Big Al's. However, his sandwich was $10 with a small bag of chips.
Soda and water were $2 a piece. Yes, I did pay $2 for a 12 oz can of Mt. Dew.
Beer vendor selection was nothing more than what you find in the grocery store.
Chaos! No one knew jack about what was going on who were working the event.

However, there were a few aspects that Wezul and I thoroughly enjoyed.

After a second attempt of standing in a long line, Wezul got to sample a 24 year old scotch or bourbon. He has no idea what it was, but he said it tasted pretty good!
The bourbon vendor selection was pretty good.
Live bluegrass music.

In a nutshell, we will not pay to do this again unless it changes and becomes better organized.

It was fun; especially if you go with a group of friends. However, being the Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ aficionado that Wezul is, it is about the sampling that matters. It truly fell short for him.

Very cool! The piggy balloon is by far my favorite of all the ones we saw launched into the air. Yes, the piggy did have a curly tail. ;)

Wezul can be an unpredictable animal. ;) As I mentioned at the start of our anniversary trip, he "fixed" my wedding band issue. I have to admit, I dropped a couple of pretty BIG hints via email.

He gave me two anniversary bands at my new ring size that now behave as "book ends" to keep my wedding bands on my hand without having to resize my wedding bands. A solution that is working very well so far.

Today IS the DAY! I can officially say, today is the BEST day of our vacation. Wezul booked us on a dolphin tour. Yippie! We booked our tour with Captain Mike's Dolphin Tours.

Gigi's Cupcakes

Oh my!! This is the Midnight Magic Chocolate Chip cupcake from Gigi's Cupcakes in Savannah.

This is my little piece of heaven. You might be able to make out Jason's scrumptious treat in the background. He opted for the Peanut Butter Cup, go figure. If you go to their website, you will be able to see that this is a franchise; however, it does NOT taste like a franchised bakery. The cupcakes are just all you can want and more in a cupcake.

Wezul and I are going to be looking them up the next time we drive through Lexington, KY.

We will be taking a break from all the eating we have been doing to go on a little excursion tomorrow. I am about to flip my lid with excitement. Hopefully the pictures will turn out decent.

Yesterday, we exchanged gifts. Wezul SPOILED me!!!!!!!! Completely unexpected. Which is the Wezul I know and love... Haha!!! However, he surprised me...the thing I am most grateful for...fixed my wedding ring issue. I have not been able to wear them both in a long time...and when I wear them together or just the wedding band, I am afarid of losing them. Since we wedded, my ring size has fallen from a 6 to 5 1/4. How...I'm not sure. Today, I weigh as much as I did when I graduated from college, and my ring size then was a 6...same as the day I married...Big dilemma I had...is my wedding band, as most are during the ceremony, was blessed by the priest...I have had nightmares about what to do with my "blessed" wedding band. Wezul to the rescue...his fix...will be unveiled next week....

As I have mentioned, we have decided to take an anniversary trip on our actual anniversary. Since we both travel some for work, we know how to use the hotel system to find a bargain. Plus, we made our saving credo work for us.

This time we are staying next door to the hotel we normal stay at when we are in Savannah. We decided to check into the Bohemian Hotel.

The Green

The Green is a little gem we discovered on our way to the Dirty Heads concert. We noticed a couple of really sparkly statues. Before we left Charlotte, we took a stroll from our hotel to go to the Green. Not only does it have some really cool artwork on the outdoor premises. There are signs pointing in the direction of a city based off the first and last name of an author.

We need a place like this in Raleigh.

Luckily for us, the tornadoes were to our west and east, and it appears so far, all our friends and family are safe and sound. The wx geek in me...enjoyed watching the doppler radar with the recent outbreak of tornadoes in our area. We actually had some textbook echos on the radar. No, I don't have a morbid sense of humor, I just have a meteorology degree. :)

Tomorrow, Wezul and I will begin our little adventure. :) We will be submitting clues on the onset of our playtime.

I am really looking forward to it! All I can say is, the third time might be the charm. :)

As I watch the clock tick down, I can't help but to remember Wezul's dark time. It amazes me how clear the writing was on the wall, but yet, one still hopes for the best. We survived Wezul's hiccups, we will survive this one.

Where's Wezul? Just look for his nose...I promise it is in there and you can see it!!!!!!!

Wezul had a brillant idea to start changing the oil in our vehicles. We will save a lot of money. Well, I'm not sure if that is true. If you just take the cost of the oil and the filter into consideration, it seems to run about the same as a chain oil change place. Wezul tells me, I'm going to jack the car up...my heart starts to fluttering...what about ramps? We don't have any...well...the scientist in me knows jacking it up is ok...you do it for a tire change...however, changing the oil with your body under the car...hmmm...no thank you...find some ramps and go buy them.

Wezul found some and bought them. He brings them home, and they are freaking plastic. He is like it can hold 8 tons and my truck is only 4.5 tons and the camry is lighter...not making me feel any better....

In the end, he changed the car's oil, but I'm thinking I'm perfectly fine paying someone else, keeping them in a job, and not have Wezul put half of his body under a vehicle. On the other hand, Wezul got a charge out of changing the camry's oil. I guess for now, his joy out weighs my fear...for now..........

Colin Hay!

Colin's Biggest Groupie...Wezul

It is Colin Hay, former lead singer for "Men At Work". He unplugged and went acoustic years ago. He performed solo yesterday - including some of the classics from Men at Work's heyday. If you are familiar with some of our wedding pictures, he performed at the Clayton Center's Auditorium, and where we are standing is where we had our wedding reception. Kind of surreal. Haha...Wezul didn't allow me to hide behind the pillars. He is very hilarious, he played, talked, and then stood around to sign autographs and take pictures until he met with the last person in line. We weren't last, but it was very cool...reminded me of the our meet and greet with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy...I guess it is true the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...Wezul had the same glimmer in his eye as Momma Wezul did when she met BBVD.

Fun Times!

Wezul spent Saturday mounting our tv to the wall. Eek! The location is not my first choice. However, based off the furniture we currently have in our bedroom, it was the only logical locale.

One of the main requirements to add the tv to the wall...hide all the cords. Hence the need for him to cut three holes into our wall.

The new mounting looks good; however, I am not a big fan of the new room arrangement...but...I will give it a whirl. At least until we can redo the room the way I really want it...which leads back...to the tv is not in my ideal location...HOWEVER, watching TV in bed is much more enjoyable...no glare...perfect angle to sit up...or lay down....laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...need a vacation to enjoy the new tv location...hey...i may just get one come March 18th if my boss doesn't sign off on a new budget...haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been extremely busy. Hockey...ACC basketball...work...life...and whatever else that can be thrown at you! We are preparing for Wednesday night's BIG game. NCSU plays UNC at the RBC Center! Mr. and Mrs. Wuf

That's right...you read that right! On February 28, 1981, the Wake Forest Demon Deacon joined Mr. and Mrs. Wuf in matrimony. Fittingly enough, we played Wake Forest at home today. So, The Wufs had a renewal ceremony officiated by the Demon Deacon himself. Amazingly enough, this was also the start of our conference play. For the first time, our opening game in conference play has occurred at home since Sidney Lowe (our coach) has began his tenure. Even more amazing, we won 90-69. What a nice wedding gift for WFU to give us!

Oh yeah...our seats are going to rock for this season!!!! We got a mini pack this year (4 games); however, we were able to scoop up lower level tickets. Amazing!! They will change from game to game...some higher...some lower...but all within the lower bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S DAY TO EVERYONE!!

It has been a rollercoaster of a year looking back. Some lows (illnesses)...some real highs (remission, graduation, and marriage)...you never know what life will throw at you...(listening mini-wezul?!?)

Wezul and I enjoyed a year without any layoffs for Wezul.....YEAH!!!!!!! I know am facing at least a two year pay freeze (probably longer). You know what, that is fine with us as long as that paycheck is still coming in. All I know is we won't be losing any sleep (as long as it is just a pay freeze)...haha

The elder sister...haha...kinda sounds like I am calling her old (maybe just a little)...decided to take the big ol' plunge and tie the knot.

Mini-wezul...graduated from high school. She entered Massage Therapy school and should complete her first semester this month, and she entered the working world at the same time. All I can say, you get to sleep when you are 'OLD'. Study and work hard...........

Oh yeah...Wezul became a student and practitioner of Dave Ramsey...a girl couldn't ask for more. ;) Mini-wezul seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of her papa at her age. Keep up the good work with your monster savings mini-wezul!!!!

Yeah! It's that time of year again! We are so ready to enjoy some time off from work without having to travel. :) Yeah us! We both get tomorrow off, and various days will be taken off together next week. We are going to not only be visited by the jolly old man himself from the North Pole (yes, Wezul sorta behaved himself this year), but mini-Wezul will be flying in for a brief stay over Christmas to NC.

Boy! Will her arms be tired...it is a long way from Iowa...hahaha!!! It's Christmas, it is mandatory you all laugh at that one!

Depending on how many feet of snow we get over this weekend, the blog may be very active. Hahaha!!! There is a shortage of eggs, bread and milk in all the grocery stores. ;) The snow should make for a very fun and interesting tailgating experience for all on Sunday.

He did it again! I have always wanted a secretary desk. In fact, Wezul and I have scoured the internet and local stores for one. We could never find what we were looking. For us, it is always difficult because we have to both love something before we will buy it.

However, we both love this desk. It is suits both of our taste, plus, it's made by Poppa P...something that can be passed on and on through our family. However, there became one point of contention regarding the desk. Where should the handles go on the bottom doors? I wanted the middle (to remain symmetric with the other handles) and Wezul wanted to place them near the top corners (to make it easier to open and much to my dismay). Haha!! After much discussion in Iowa, we decided to live with the piece and wait to decide later.

I had one card up my sleeve. My dear hubby was mistaken when he thought the knobs on our other cabinets were near the top. However, I knew otherwise. I knew I would NEVER buy a hutch like that. However, I also know Wezul well enough to know he wouldn't believe me until he saw it for himself. So after our long trek home, I walk into our house and I look...and I knew from that moment...I am standing my ground...I would rather live without knobs than to put them near the top.

Our knobs on the doors WILL go in the middle...Wezul for his part has agreed...the middle of the doors win. :) I would like to think I won because he realized my suggestion looks better, but on very rare occasions, Wezul will let me have my way when I can prove there are other "idiots" in the world who think like me....haha!!!

I can't wait to finish stocking the desk. :)

Facebook vs the Blog! and the winner is...neither.

Over Thanksgiving, Wezul proudly proclaimed that the blog was dead in an effort to get Momma P on facebook! She needs to be there...even if it is just to have access to the pictures...and the funniest facebook person of all-time...Mr. TLM

He, of course, was talking about "HIS" blog and not "OUR" blog. We both have facebook accounts...and yes...it is easier at times to post things to facebook than it is to post to the blog. For example, facebook makes posting numerous pictures at one time, or posting video easier. However, the blog has served us well, and it gives us ample space to tell our tale...so...it isn't going anywhere...

Besides, I get to unleash my sarcastic interpretations of Wezul's life without interference on his part. Especially since I don't think he looks at this site anymore...haha!!! Just kidding!

What a mascot! Today, we played UNC (yuck, puck, ugh)! We WON! We are 8-3 overall now. If we beat the Terps next weekend, we are in the ACC championship game! GO PACK!!! We need 2 more wins! Wezul and I have had a busy Tailgating week. On Thursday, we were out in the rain, cheering the Pack onto victory against FSU. All that luck has landed us back at #23 in the AP poll and #25 with the USA Today Poll.

Last night, we had our first hockey tailgate of the 2010-2011 Hockey season. The game of choice was the Hurricanes against the Penguins. The Penguins won 3-0. :) Much to everyone's dismay...well...almost everyone. :) It was a good mix of people. The paternal M unit took pics. We can't wait to see them. Maybe at some point they may make it to the web...or not! Haha!!!

What a whirlwind weekend, crazy crazy crazy...

At the last minute, I changed my mind about staying in TN. I decided to take in the concert and then come home. My better half and I have differences of opinion over why...bottom line for me...i didn't feel comfortable that I felt he felt uncomfortable that I would be spending my time in another state by myself while he was completely cut off from the world. I know this is crazy, because I travel for work all the time, but for me, if I feel Wezul isn't 100% behind something I'm doing...I tend not to do it...It isn't his fault, but one has to do what one feels is right at the time.

Then, it didn't help Apple released their new Macbook Air that I desire so....

So, here goes my plan...go to the concert with concert buddy guy...or as long ago declared by Wezul...my WH...hahaha....spend the night in Winston-Salem...come home.

Detour #1...our drop off point is "ONLY an hour from Winston-Salem". OK...OK...I'll still drop you guys off. So Wezul, WH, and I head to Winston-Salem...for some partying...and "old geezer hotel camping out time".

Detour #2...after a great time at the concert...all three of us get up, eat breakfast, and put the coordinates into Garmin.

Detour #3...after triple checking the coordinates...the GPS takes us to the wrong location in the wrong direction. Some how the coordinates "changed".

Detour #4...once we are heading back in the right direction...we discover that the drop off point is NOT an hour away...but more like 2.5 hours away....

Detour #5...We finally arrive at the drop off point. By this time, I realize there is no way I'm driving back to Clayton. So, I revert back to my initial plan...stay in Johnson City, TN. But only for 1 night...

Detour #6...After checking in...it becomes evident...I will be in TN for more than 1 night...let's try 3 nights.

I stayed at the same hotel that Wezul and I stopped at when we had that bad snow storm on our way to Iowa last year. They were just as helpful and amazingly nice as the first visit. So if you are in the area, this is definitely the best place to stay...Courtyard Johnson City.

Gotta love when life has it's own plan.

No, it isn't because Wezul and I forgot to buy shampoo. They are a band from CA. I first got introduced to them in Denver when they opened for Sublime. After returning from CO, I immediately downloaded their album. It has immediately became one of my favs. Fate intervened over the past few weeks that enabled me to go to the concert last night to see Sublime and the Dirty Heads. Wezul didn't go to the show. I went with a good buddy. In fact, the same buddy who took me the first time to see Sublime and the Dirty Heads in CO. Love my hubby for letting me go!

My concert going buddy and Wezul are sleeping high on the mountain tonight! Let's hope the chance of rain begins to evaporate.

Our Baby Has Grown Up...what a sad day....

Friday, was a BIG day for us. On our way to REI in Raleigh, Wezul noticed we were about to hit a big milestone with our Camry....

That's right, our 4.5 year old Camry, hit 100,000 miles...we bought her in April 2006...she was a brand spanking new 2007 model...

You are looking at the toll of me working in Raleigh and living in Clayton...the Camry has kept me safe from 1 deer attack, taken us back and forth to Iowa and various other locales, and has been very reliable...

Here's to the next 100K we hope to put on her...what?!?...think we are crazy?!?...we got her paid off....we are keeping her until the wheels fall off..............

I, Environwx, officially hate working for a living. I have found my true calling, a stay at home wife. That isn't to say, I will get to sit on the couch and eat Godiva Truffles all day...that doesn't sound too shabby....

I could truly find time to clean the house the way it should truly be cleaned, I can cook wonderful dinner for Wezul, and just be happy as a tick on a dog instead of seeing if I need to pick ticks off of myself because I work in the field.............................

This always happens when I take two weeks off from work...I realize I want to be home...alas...reality is I have to work...but at least I have a job that I don't dread most days!!!

Other than finally returning to work on Monday, Wezul and I haven't been doing much that is blog worthy but watching lots and lots of football. Between college and pro games and regular tv shows we watch, we are always watching something.
